Yard Machines 121R Gas Garden Rototiller Review 2018
Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller Description
Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller is a one horsepower rototiller designed for smaller areas of garden with the independence of a gas powered motor to drive it.
The Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller is easy to assemble, mainly to do with attaching the handles. It is relatively light at thirty pounds and has large 8 inch diameter wheels so is easily mobile from shed to garden. The wheels are also an advantage when wanting to shift it about the garden.
The engine of the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller is a 31 cc, two cycle, one horse power gas engine, that unlike other gas powered rototillers drives the rotating tines via a shaft and gearbox. This is because the engine does not sit on the gear box just above the tines like other gas powered rototillers, but is raised up to a position just below the handles. The gear box is of heavy duty construction and maintenance free.
To ensure easy starting of the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller it does pay to read the manual to get the correct procedure. It uses EZ-pull starting technology to reduce the frustration surrounding starting small engines.
The tines on the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller are heat tempered and eight inches in length and there is a pair of six point tine blades on either side of the gear box – the tines work in a forward tilling direction. Tilling width can be adjusted from six inches to ten inches and the tilling depth is about six inches.
N.B. One point about the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller is that because it is not CARB compliant it can’t be sold in California.
The Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller has a two year limited warranty.

Machines Gas Garden Rototiller Reviews
Well I have to say the responses from people who own a Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller are a bit 50:50. Of the reviews we looked at only 24% gave it a five rating and an equal number a four, meaning that less than half of the people who purchased the rototiller were happy with its performance.
I mean there were those who thought it did an OK job, although most said it was very noisy. One reviewer got a personal complaint from an irate neighbor.
Apparently the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller is not hard to start if you follow the instructions, but the pull on the starting cord is very heavy – some thought there may have been something wrong with it because it was so hard to pull. Because of this there were instances where the cord had snapped after a period of time – inside the housing.
Some were disappointed with the depth the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller dug to. They mentioned that although the tines were eight inches long you would be lucky to get to 5-6 inches depth. The Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller also tended not to dig-in easily which required moving the rototiller from side to side or changing the vertical angle to allow it to dig in. This physical man-handling made the whole rototilling process a bit tiring.
The position of the exhaust irritated some as it was directed backwards, but others whilst noting it, didn’t seem to mind that much.
So a bit of a disappointing review for the Yard Machines Gas Garden Rototiller which means we can’t recommend it to you. Especially when so many reviewers were disappointed with it.
